George Huntley Snr was a shipbuilder at Heworth Shore & Felling Shore. His son George Huntley Jnr was born at Heworth in 1817 and in the 1881 census was residing at Monkton on the outskirts of Jarrow. George Huntley Jnr's son was William Patterson Huntley and described in the 1881 census as a "Grocers' Joiner". From 1885 William Patterson Huntley is described as a shiprepairer at Hebburn Quay.
