| Thomas Adamson petitioned Newcastle City Council for the lease of ground at Willington Quay, intending to move his establishment 'from Dundee to Tyneside'. |

| William Adamson, a Scotsman and a carpenter by trade, was employing 33 men and 22 apprentices at the Willington Quay yard. |
