Comments: Launched as ARTURO PRAT for the Government of Chile
Designed to be lightly armoured, but heavily armed and fast
11/11/1880: Mitchell handed her over to Armstrong for armaments to be fitted
Contract cancelled by Chile due to changed requirements
After some delay the contract was renegotiated with Japan
by which time the Mitchell company had merged with Armstrong
The design was soon overtaken by more modern technology
