Armstrong Whitworth & Co Ltd, Elswick, High Walker & Low Walker

Although Armstrong, Whitworth are listed in many ship entries as being the Engine Builder there is little evidence of them having a marine engine manufacturing facility. It is thought that they took out a licence for Sulzer diesel engines in 1921 which would have allowed them to manufacture some components and instal or commission engines. Note that there is no mention of marine engines in the following advert.
