The Tyne Direct Ferry Co which was formed in 1847 was purchased by TIC in 1863
The Direct Ferry Co was known as the Ha'penny Dodger, from the fare charged and the way it dodged between other river traffic.
Still listed in MNL 1940, but new COLLINGWOOD built in 1940
