Comments: 1925: Completion delayed due to cost over-run
Accommodation for 510 x Cabin Class & 1178 x 3rd Class passengers
24/08/1939: Requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted into an armed merchant cruiser
Renamed HMS ASCANIA. Armed with 8 x 1 x 6.0ins & 2 x 1 x 3.0ins guns
10/1942: Used as a troopship by the Ministry of War Transport
1943: Converted into a Landing Ship Infantry
1947: Returned to owners
1956: Requisitioned for Suez landings
01/01/1957: Broken up at Newport by John Cashmore
