Comments: Accommodation for 500 x Cabin Class & 1200 x 3rd Class passengers
09/1939: Requisitioned by the Admiralty & converted to an armed merchant cruiser
Armed with 6 x 1 x 6ins guns & 2 x 1 x 3ins AA guns
16/06/1940: Torpedoed & sunk by German U-Boat UA, 230 miles off the Faroe Islands
Sank slowly by the stern & crew were taken off by the Icelandic trawler SKALLAGRIMUR
The crew were later transfered to HMS FORESTER. No loss of life.
